Your supplier changed a price on Tuesday. You found out from an order.

When suppliers only publish prices on their own website, nobody tells you when they move. So someone has to go and look.

  • Your suppliers have no feed. Distributor websites, other Shopify stores and eBay sellers publish a price and a stock level, and that's it.
  • Checking by hand doesn't keep up. A spreadsheet or a VA can get through a few hundred products. You have thousands, across several suppliers.
  • Mistakes cost you. A price that's too low eats your margin. An item you can't get sells anyway, and you have to cancel the order.
  • Full automation is its own risk. A tool that copies whatever it reads will copy the supplier's mistakes into your store too.

How it works

Four steps. You stay in charge of the third one.

  1. Link

Paste your supplier's page on each product. You see their current price and stock straight away.

  2. Check

We check every link on a schedule, apply your markup, rounding and minimum margin, and work out what changed.

  3. Review

Every change lands in your review inbox: old and new cost, your new price, margin and the reason. Approve, edit or skip.

  4. Push

Approved changes go to Shopify. Every one is logged, and you can undo it in one click.

A bad day at the supplier

Supplier sites go down, glitch and change their minds. Pick what goes wrong and compare a plain sync with PriceWarden.

Supplier site goes down

A plain sync

  1. Reads 312 empty pages.
  2. Marks every one out of stock.
  3. Your store stops selling them until someone notices.

PriceWarden

  1. A page we couldn't read is never treated as out of stock.
  2. Over 20% of the links failed, so the whole check is held.
  3. You get one line: “Supplier check held. We'll retry. Nothing in your store was changed.”

Price glitch: $649.00 → $6.49

A plain sync

  1. Applies your markup to $6.49.
  2. Your camp oven sells for $9.95.
  3. Orders come in before anyone looks.

PriceWarden

  1. A 99% drop is flagged as unusual and can never be pushed automatically.
  2. Price drops wait for your yes anyway, and nothing goes below your minimum margin.
  3. It sits in your inbox, held, until you look.

Shows out of stock once

A plain sync

  1. Sets stock to 0 straight away.
  2. The page is back to normal the next morning.
  3. You lost a day of sales on a product that was fine.

PriceWarden

  1. One "out of stock" is not enough.
  2. We check again. Only the same answer twice reaches your inbox.
  3. Your listing keeps selling in the meantime.

Half the links fail

A plain sync

  1. Updates the half it could read.
  2. Leaves the other half however they were.
  3. You now have a store that is half right, and no way to tell which half.

PriceWarden

  1. More than 20% failed, so we draw no conclusions from this check.
  2. The whole supplier check is held and reported.
  3. Fix the cause, or wait for the retry. Nothing in your store was changed.

Nine safety rules

Every check follows these, every time. They come from real failures seen in this kind of work, and they're why nothing reaches your store unless it's right and you said yes.

  1. Rule 1: A page we couldn't read is never treated as discontinued or out of stock.

Stops a slow or broken supplier site turning your products off.

  2. Rule 2: “Removed” or “out of stock” needs the same answer on two separate checks.

Stops one bad reading hiding a product that is still for sale.

  3. Rule 3: Automation never lowers a price by default.

Stops your margin quietly shrinking because a supplier ran a sale.

  4. Rule 4: Never below your minimum margin.

Stops selling at a loss after a cost or shipping change.

  5. Rule 5: A change bigger than your limit (default ±30%) is flagged as unusual and can never be pushed automatically.

Stops typos and glitches on the supplier side, like $649.00 becoming $6.49.

  6. Rule 6: If more than 20% of a supplier's links fail in one check, that supplier's whole check is held and reported.

Stops partial updates from a supplier site that is half down. See it happen

  7. Rule 7: A locked product is never changed.

Stops overwriting prices you set by hand, like a clearance or a bundle deal.

  8. Rule 8: Nothing reaches Shopify without your approval, unless you turn on auto-push for that supplier.

Stops surprises. You see every change before your customers do.

  9. Rule 9: Every push is logged and can be undone in one click.

Stops a wrong approval becoming a long night of fixing.

Is it for you?

A good fit

  • A Shopify store with 500 to 30,000 products.
  • Two or more suppliers with no feed: distributor websites, other Shopify stores and eBay sellers.
  • The supplier's public price is what you pay, or close to it.
  • Today you use a spreadsheet, a VA, or nothing.
  • Built first for Australian stores in 4x4, caravan and camping, auto parts and tools.

Not what it does

  • Importing products from AliExpress or similar.
  • Tracking competitors' prices.
  • Importing CSV or data feeds. If your supplier already sends a feed, a feed tool will suit you better.
  • Reading prices behind a supplier login, for now.

Two ways to use it
